Spencer Hinckley, Graduate Intern

After receiving a degree in sociology from Brigham Young University, Spencer worked in various fields until he found his passion for mental health.  He worked for the Utah chapter of the non-profit National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) where he taught classes on mental health, facilitated support groups, and trained volunteers.  As a psychiatric technician at The University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI), Spencer learned of the tender care needed by those affected by mental health challenges.

Spencer recently completed his course work for a Master’s of Social Work degree at the University of Utah and is currently working as an intern at England Counseling.  His therapeutic interests in the Salt Lake City area include couple’s therapy, family therapy, grief and loss, sex and pornography addiction, and life transitions, in addition to treating depression and anxiety.

When not working, Spencer spends time with his family, plays guitar, rides his bike and serves in his spiritual community.

Spencer will be seeing counseling clients at England Counseling Services and LifeSTAR Oquirrh under clinical supervision.
